Guess the Weight:
Have your child choose a new vegetable or fruit. Ask questions such about the color, shape and size.
Have your child estimate the weight. You can also calculate the price.
Pick a Color:
Choose one color every time you go to the grocery store. Have your child find ten fruits and veggies
(or as many items as they can) that are that color. You can even carry this game throughout the entire store.
Tell Me a Story:
Have your child pick their favorite piece of fruit. Tell a story and have your child fill in the blanks.
Such as “ Once upon a time in Fruitville, there was a lovely (type of fruit) whose name was (funny name).“ Bring a crayon and blank piece of paper so that your child can draw out the story throughout your shopping trip.
Let’s Try It Together!
Pick an exotic fruit or vegetable. Have fun looking for a recipe and cooking together. Make sure to take a picture and save the recipe for a great scrapbook you’ll treasure for years!
